Trump is Harming our Democracy
How much damage the president causes before he leaves office is still unclear
President Trump’s election loss is a significant defeat. On Jan. 20. 2021 Joe Biden will become president and Trump will be out. The big question most rational people are asking is how much damage to our democracy will he do?
Donald Trump has spent his entire term in office undermining the country, for his own personal gain. Republicans have enabled him every step of the way. His denial of the election results is his most brazen attack against us, the people yet. Make no mistake, Trump is mobilizing his allies to overturn the election by creating doubts. He is doing what he always does, disrupting accepted norms.
He said during the campaign if he didn’t win it is because of fraud caused by mail-in ballots. I thought you needed evidence first and then go out and find the fraud. I believe he is laying the groundwork for another run as president in 2024. Once again, he is choosing himself over the people.
Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Sunday, “Do not concede, Mr. President, fight hard.”
There are reports he is planning campaign style rallies to get his false message out. Be on the lookout for COVID-19 superspreader events. Still, votes are being counted and election officials tell us this election has been a slow but accurate process with no indications of rampant fraud. It is likely Joe Biden could end up with 306 electoral votes, the same amount Trump garnered in 2016. Trump called it a landslide.
Trump continues to file lawsuits even though most are being thrown out because they offer no proof of wrongdoing. The president is even harming the transition of the new Biden administration. The General Services Administration which allocates funds to the new administration has yet to do so. Joe Biden is entitled to receive daily national security briefings. They have yet to occur.
This is not how normal presidents act. Dictators act this way. I cannot wait for Inauguration Day.
