Everyone Must Wear a Mask

Wearing a mask protects yourself and those around you

I know, we are all sick and tired of COVID-19. Yet, there are still people who refuse to wear a mask. Some folks even think the pandemic is a hoax. The coronavirus is out of control, and we all must do our part to save our neighbors. As of this writing over 271,000 victims have died from this cruel virus. This thing is real and kills. Wearing a mask even if you have no symptoms saves lives.

The coronavirus spreads through respiratory droplets, person to person. These droplets spread when you cough, sneeze, or talk. Masks offer a barrier that helps prevent the spread of these droplets when covering the nose and mouth. To be effective masks must be worn correctly. Many people only cover their mouths.

Masks are not political. They are a virus protection device.

Some people believe you do not need to wear a mask if you do not have symptoms. This is not true, because you can carry the virus to others inadvertently. Since we all know this why do some people refuse to wear a mask? Is wearing a simple mask to protect one another really that big a deal? Nobody wants to wear a mask. I do not want to wear one either, but I do so to protect myself and others.

I purposely kept this article short, because everyone already knows masks save lives. However, it is an important message and worth repeating. I am a senior citizen with Parkinson’s which puts me in the COVID-19 high-risk category. I personally would appreciate it if all of us would wear a mask. Thank you.
