Activist groups are planning street protests if they perceive the President is trying to alter the outcome of the 2020 election. Protect the Results is a coalition of over 130 groups of both Democratic and Republican activists intent on seeing a fair election. The coalition has already planned over 400 events on November 4. Participants will wait for a text message informing them if the protests will take place.

“We can’t assume that Donald Trump will respect the peaceful transfer of power” said Sean Eldridge, the founder and president of Stand Up America, which started organizing the coalition in June.

One organizer with Shut Down DC plans civil actions, like blocking traffic in the capital. The group is concerned Trump will use his power to steal the election away. He has already said he wants a result on election day. Given the amount of mail-in ballots cast this election, it is unlikely we will know the results on November 3.

“The President will accept the results of a free and fair election,” White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews said in response to questions about the activists’ plans.

Still, the President has not committed to a peaceful transfer of power should he lose. He has already placed the election in doubt because of his unfounded fraud claims against mail-in voting.

Unless Biden wins by a landslide, we can expect Trump to meddle. Protests are likely.
